Position Overview

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to join New Horizons - Inpatient Addiction Rehabilitation Unit at Binghamton General Hospital. This 20‑bed adult behavioral health program provides medically supported care for individuals with substance use disorders in a structured, recovery‑focused environment. Nurses on this unit partner closely with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, patient‑centered care while promoting compassion and respect - core values that align with the UHS mission to improve the health of the communities we serve.

This role is ideal for experienced RNs with a background or strong interest in behavioral health or addiction medicine who are confident, ethical, and consistent in their practice. Responsibilities

Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
Will follow all United Health Services Values

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing

Preferred:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting

License/Certification

Minimum Required:

Current NYS RN License

Preferred:

Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.

Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy. Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services. Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies. Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices. Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements. Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
