Job Description CMG Anesthesia Services located in beautiful Lynchburg, VA, is seeking CRNAs to join our multi-specialty group to provide services at our Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital. Cases include - Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, Cath Lab, GYN, Urology, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Peds & OB. Responsibilities You Can Expect: Schedule: We offer 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts. No CALL no NIGHTS Malpractice with Tail Minimum 16 Hours per 8 weeks Care Team Model 360 beds (LGH) 160 beds (VBH) Strong relationship with our surgeons. Truly a team-based model. 3:1 supervision/direction of CRNAs Case mix at two hospitals (Expected to provide some coverage at both facilities, hospitals are 4 miles apart): Virginia Baptist: General- mostly bread and butter ambulatory cases, plastics, urology, GYN, peds dental, OB coverage, ophthalmology, and ECTs. Lynchburg General: Level 2 trauma center covering general surgery, interventional cardiology, neurosurgery, vascular, ENT, bariatric surgery, orthopedics, trauma, and electrophysiology procedures. Major Responsibilities: Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients which includes: the induction of anesthesia; the maintenance of anesthesia at the required levels; the support of life functions during the administration of anesthesia, including induction and intubations; the recording of all pertinent events during the induction of, maintenance of and emergence from anesthesia; the recognition and the taking of appropriate corrective action (including requesting consultation when necessary) for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or other form of therapy; and the professional observation and resuscitative care (including requesting consultation when necessary) until the patient has regained control of his/her vital functions. Performs pre-anesthesia functions including: determining that an appropriate pre-anesthetic examination has been made by a physician; insuring that relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed; reviewing the patient's condition immediately prior to the induction of an anesthesia; checking the readiness, availability, cleanliness, sterility when required and working conditions of all the equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents prior to administering anesthesia. Performs post-anesthesia duties including: remaining with the patient until it is safe to transfer responsibility for care to other qualified individuals; advising personnel responsible for post-anesthetic care of specific problems presented by the patient's condition; administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon and making post-anesthetic visits regarding the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications. Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution. Responds to life threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies if available by establishing and maintaining an airway under the direction of a physician. Assists nursing units with difficult intravenous (IV) insertions when requested, when available and when attempts by other professionals have been unsuccessful. May administers anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon. May provides labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center. Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards. May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Job Summary: Under the medical supervision of an Anesthesiologist, administers general and regional anesthesia for all types of surgical, obstetrical and other procedures that require anesthesia services, to patients of various age groups including: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric in accordance with hospital and departmental standards of care. Such intervention may include, but not be limited to: airway management; maintenance of fluid balance; homeostasis; monitoring; response to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and management of patients on ventilators. Essential Responsibilities: Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Precepts student nurse anesthetists. Maintains an accurate accounting of controlled substances in accordance with departmental guidelines. Maintains equipment and supplies as outlined in department policies and procedures. Complies with organizational rules, policies and procedures (i.e. TJC, CAC Title 22, Regional and Department requirements). Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations when interacting with public, patients, staff and other personnel.
