Responsibilities

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

 

The Northside Hospital Staff Registered Professional Nurse manages patient care of an assigned group of patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Northside Hospital. Additionally, the practice of all professional nurses at Northside Hospital reflects the values of collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

 

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
  •  

    PREFERRED

  • BSN degree
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

The Nursing Unit Manager position ensures that the ANA scope and standards of practice and the code of ethics for nurses are the foundation for nursing practice of the unit(s) The Unit Manager interacts with and contributes to the professional development of all unit staff practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at orientation or within 3 months of employment. ​ ​ REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Basic competencies are expected in negotiation and conflict resolution, nursing research and other scholarly activities, organizational behavior and development, patient and employee safety, performance improvement, practice innovation, professional nursing practice, standards of clinical nursing practice, systems for patient safety, trends in business practices. Progressive management experience 10+ years of clinical and/or leadership experience. REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS Basic computer skills. Nursing skills appropriate to area of supervision.
