Position Summary

As a CNA Float Pool member, you provide compassionate care to residents across multiple units. You assist with daily living activities while ensuring the health, safety, comfort, and dignity of every resident.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with meals, feeding, hygiene, ambulation, and positioning

  • Monitor resident condition and report changes to the nurse

  • Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests

  • Document care and maintain confidentiality

  • Follow facility policies, procedures, and compliance standards

  • Provide support in different units as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current CNA certification in accordance with state regulations

  • CPR certification required

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English

  • Long-term care experience preferred, but not required – we welcome motivated caregivers ready to grow

Physical Demands

  • Sit, stand, bend, and walk regularly

  • Lift/move up to 100 lbs

  • Visual and auditory ability to perform required duties

  • Moderate noise level typical of a healthcare environment

As a CNA Float Pool at MercyOne, you will be a member of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center’s healthcare team and is under the direct supervision of a registered professional nurse. The nurse assistant provides quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care by assisting the patient with activities of daily living, as well as other physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The nurse assistant provides care consistent with the mission of MercyOne Clinton, vision of patient care services, evidence-based standard of care and established policies and procedures. Function in an assistive role under the supervision of the Registered Nurse retaining accountability for one’s own actions and behaviors. Assist in the physical management of patient: feeding, hygiene, bed making and ambulation. Provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to the patient population with respect to age specific and culturally sensitive needs as described in the department’s scope of service. Record and report information such as vital signs, intake and output, weight, and any behavioral changes appropriate supervisory personnel. Collect specimens and perform diagnostic procedures as directed (UA, BGM, VS, I&O, etc.) Provide care and prevention necessary to keep patient safe. Demonstrate a caring practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group. Schedule: Full time .9 (36 hours per week) Night Shift 7:00 pm – 7:30 am; every third weekend; holiday rotation General Requirements: Certified Nurse Aide, verification of certification from the State of Iowa. Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire. Minimum of three years’ experience in a related field preferred. Must be able to work concurrently on a variant of tasks in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
