Your Impact as Director of Nursing (DON)

As the clinical leader of the community, you will oversee all aspects of resident care and wellness while ensuring compliance, quality, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all clinical operations within the community

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal assisted living standards

  • Oversee resident assessments, care planning, and service delivery

  • Supervise and develop nursing and care staff

  • Partner with the Executive Director and department leaders to drive outcomes

  • Maintain excellence in infection control, medication management, and documentation

What You Bring

  • RN or LPN license (active and in good standing in Wisconsin)

  • Assisted Living or Senior Living experience required

  • Previous clinical leadership experience (DON, HWD, RCC, or similar) strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of state regulations, compliance, and survey readiness

  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and improve care outcomes

  • Passion for resident-centered care and team development

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) / Health & Wellness Director is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and coordination of clinical services within the community. This role ensures that all resident care is delivered in alignment with Charter Senior Living’s mission, values, and regulatory standards, while partnering with leadership to maintain exceptional quality of life for residents.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs; assist with transfers up to 80 lbs with equipment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift

  • Exposure to clinical environments, including potential infectious diseases
