At Right at Home Fort Wayne, we know that our caregivers are our greatest asset and should be compensated as such. Pay for this position will start at $15.50 an hour and can increase based of experience.
Responsibilities:
1) Personal Care: Assist clients with daily activities such as assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while respecting their dignity, privacy, and personal preferences.
2) Medication Reminders: Remind your client to take his/her medication at the appropriate time.
3) Mobility Assistance: Provide physical assistance and support to clients with mobility challenges, including transferring, walking, and using mobility aids such as walkers or wheelchairs.
4) Companionship: Engage clients in meaningful conversations, activities, and hobbies to promote socialization, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being.
5) Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals based on dietary restrictions, preferences, and client requirements, ensuring a balanced and healthy diet.
6) Light Housekeeping: Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as tidying up living spaces, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients.
7) Transportation: Accompany clients to medical appointments, social outings, grocery shopping, and other activities as needed, ensuring their safety and comfort during transportation.
8) Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with office staff to provide updates on the client's condition, progress, and any concerns as well as any scheduling issues or emergencies.
9) Record-Keeping & Electronic Visit Verification: Document and maintain accurate records of client care, including daily activities, assigned tasks, any client request and any significant observations or changes in the client’s condition.
10) Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Recognize and respond to emergency situations promptly, following established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
11) Respect and Professionalism: Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions with clients, their families, office staff and other healthcare professionals. Show up to scheduled shifts on time and with a positive attitude.

Competitive pay $15.50-$22.00 an hour
Pay may vary by location, level of training and type of shift

What You’ll Do and Who You Are:
The good news is that your training will teach you everything you need to know to succeed on the job. But there are a few character traits you should have from the get-go. We have a great work culture at Right at Home and look for people with a similar mindset:
You’re the honest, likable, energetic and approachable type. You listen well, have great decision-making skills and are passionate about your customer focus. You’re never short of a smile and take real pride in your work.
You establish “partner” relationships with the client by providing companionship during activities such as accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.
You don’t have to be a gourmet chef but you can prepare a good meal, work your way around a kitchen and run to the grocery store, if needed.
Must Haves:
Homemaker Companion must have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick, and the ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
Read, write, speak, and understand English with or without reasonable accommodations as needed for the job.
Homemaker Companion must be able to lift at least 10 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
You must have a current and valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a vehicle in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations with or without reasonable accommodation.
