Maintains the Environment of Care, providing Homemaker Services in order to maintain the patient’s comfort and to provide a healthy, safe environment. The Hospice Nursing Assistant will have primary assignment to Home Care or Inpatient Care, but is expected to help in areas of need within any division/department of HOSG as directed by the Nurse Manager/RN. Assists with medication and supply pick up and delivery as needed. As agency need requires, may assist with clerical duties such as answering phones and/or call lights. Other responsibilities include maintaining inventory and organization of basic medical supplies and DME. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Preferred high school graduate or GED equivalent Required current State of Georgia certification. Minimum two (2) years varied work experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred Prefer training or experience with general office skills and medical terminology Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to the hospice philosophy and ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team in meeting the unique needs of the terminally ill. Must have positive attitude with demonstrated ability to handle delicate situations and to communicate effectively Must possess ability to work non-judgmentally with persons of diverse cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and lifestyles. Must be self motivated with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, handle pressure, and utilize critical thinking/problem-solving techniques. Demonstrated ability to respond well to supervision and work independently with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration when required. Ability to operate clinical equipment as well as office equipment such as computers, telecommunications devices, etc. Prefer current Georgia driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and the availability of a reliable, licensed and insured vehicle for use on the job. WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION Work environment may include hospice office, patient homes, nursing homes/ALF, and/or inpatient hospice unit with primary assignment to either Home Care or Inpatient Care environment.
