Job Summary and Qualifications
The St. David’s HealthCare Registered Nurse (SDHRN) fulfills an important role as a central patient care provider responsible for the coordination and delivery of patient centered nursing care. As a full partner of the healthcare team, the SDHRN collaborates with all other healthcare disciplines to achieve successful execution of the patient’s plan-of-care. The SDHRN utilizes physical assessment skills and advanced diagnostic technology to aid in the assessment of the patient’s nursing care needs. Data collected is analyzed, synthesized and disseminated to other healthcare providers. The SDHRN continues to monitor and assess the patient’s physical condition, emotional and social needs, continually refining the plan-of-care to ensure achievement of the desired goals of the patient and facility outcomes. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
What you will need:
- Provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care by conducting thorough, ongoing assessments; prioritizing and communicating critical findings; and utilizing appropriate technology. Develops and documents individualized nursing diagnoses and plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team, incorporating age-specific, developmental, cultural, learning, discharge, and safety considerations.
- Delivers safe, efficient, and evidence-based nursing interventions; administers medications accurately; educates patients and families; and evaluates patient progress toward outcomes on an ongoing basis. Coordinates diagnostic testing, addresses nutritional needs, and ensures continuity of care.
- Demonstrates strong organization, time management, and critical-thinking skills; manages multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment; and performs unit-specific technical skills proficiently. Advocates for patients, promotes safety, supports service excellence initiatives, and upholds organizational mission, values, ethics, and compliance standards.
- Serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor; delegates appropriately; collaborates effectively with diverse populations and medical staff; contributes to operational efficiency, accurate charge capture, throughput goals, and responsible resource use. Participates in committees, maintains professional accountability, and performs other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

St. Davids Surgical Hospital, part of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, is a specialty hospital focused on surgery. It provides expert care in orthopedic, gynecological, urological, breast, and reconstructive surgery, among other types.
