Job Title: Companion Caregiver (Assisted Living) in Ellicott City, MD

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and engaging companion caregiver to support a client residing in an assisted living community. The ideal candidate will provide assistance with light personal care, including toileting support, lead simple exercises, and actively engage the client in meaningful conversation and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respectful assistance with toileting and basic personal care needs

  • Guide and support light physical exercises as appropriate

  • Engage the client in stimulating conversation, particularly around music and current events

  • Encourage cognitive engagement through discussion, reading, or simple activities

  • Offer companionship and emotional support in a calm, patient manner

  • Monitor and report any changes in condition or behavior

Qualifications:

  • Experience in caregiving, companion care, or memory care preferred

  • Background in early childhood education, special education, or related field is a plus

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patient, attentive, and able to engage in meaningful conversation

  • Reliable and professional demeanor

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with memory care techniques or cognitive engagement strategies

  • Ability to tailor activities to the client’s interests (music, news, discussion)

  • Gentle approach to assisting with personal care tasks

Work Environment:

  • Client resides in an assisted living facility

  • Has a friendly cat

What You’ll Bring POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, although mandatory in certain states. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, or the age required by state regulations, whichever is higher. Working experience alone, on a team, and on projects start to finish Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills Dedication to the medical field, especially towards working with the residents Must pass State and company background checks and drug test. Take Vital signs Assisting resident with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Medication supervision (within the scope of the state regulations) Read, write, speak and understand the English language.
