Performs duties throughout the ASC in the capacities in which competency has been achieved (Admissions, OR, Pain procedures, PACU and discharge). Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric patient populations. Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases, and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met.

Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Will perform all job duties or job tasks as assigned. Will follow and adhere to all requirements, regulations and procedures of any licensing board or agency. Must comply with all Benefis Health System’s organization policies and procedures.

Education/License/Experience Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Montana.
Current BCLS certification.
Current ACLS or scheduled to be completed within the first year of employment.
Previous experience in the operating room.

Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management. Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Administers all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications to include, but not limited to, venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home. Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred.
