Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at  Palm Beach International Surgery Center - Paley Institute

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures.  Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification as required by state and/or center
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
  • Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

JOB SUMMARY: Provides direct and indirect services to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered Nurse and performs tasks as necessary for the efficient and effective functioning of the operating room, as well as the delivery of quality of care. Employee must be able to work in a fast pace setting. Desired experience to be able to scrub all cases that include but are not limited to Ortho, Neuro/Spine, GYN, Podiatry, ENT, Plastics, and General. DUTIES INCLUDE: Assisting the surgeon and medical team during procedures and passing necessary instruments Monitoring patient's vital signs and quickly responding to any changes in condition Assisting with positioning of the surgical patient Gowning and gloving the surgeon and assisting team prior to surgery Cleaning and maintaining the operating room, being mindful of the sterile field We offer an excellent benefit package that includes Medical, Dental ,Vision, 401K, Short term long term disability.
