Southern Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Springhill location. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of oncology patients through expert clinical care and interprofessional collaboration.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Assessment
    • Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate continuity of care.
    • Interview patients to assess health status and medical history.
    • Record nursing assessments, interventions, and report findings to providers.
    • Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support.
  • Therapy Administration
    • Administer medications and blood products safely and accurately.
    • Ensure pre-authorizations and consent forms are completed.
    • Modify doses based on assessments and protocols.
    • Perform venipuncture, access ports, and maintain central lines.
  • Clinical Operations
    • Maintain accurate documentation and apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures.
    • Restock supplies and follow OSHA guidelines for hazardous materials.
    • Assist with exams, procedures, and patient flow.
    • Schedule tests, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
    • Triage patient calls and coordinate interdisciplinary communication.
  • Collaboration & Development
    • Support clinical research and act as a resource for LPNs and medical assistants.
    • Provide coverage for satellite offices as needed.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain oncology nursing knowledge.

Qualifications

Specialty-Specific Responsibilities

Infusion RN

  • Program and instruct patients on portable infusion pumps.
  • Maintain and document pump usage and cleaning protocols.

Qualifications

  • Education & Licensure
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
    • Active RN license and registration with the State Board of Nursing.
    • Current BLS certification.
    • Must meet continuing education requirements.
  • Experience
    • 0–3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and medical preparations typical in oncology settings.
  • Physical demands include standing/walking for long periods, lifting up to 40 lbs, and full range of motion.
