Advanced Practice Provider Career Launch Program – Adult and Pediatric Regional Burn Institute at Akron Children's Hospital
Are you an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse looking to expand your clinical expertise and advance your career in a highly specialized setting?
Akron Children's Hospital is launching an exciting new APP Career Launch Program designed to develop dual-certified APRNs for the Adult and Pediatric Regional Burn Institute.
This unique opportunity supports currently certified and soon to be certified Acute Adult-Gerontology or Acute Pediatric APRNs in obtaining dual certification through a Post-Master's Certificate Program with Case Western Reserve University.
Selected candidates will receive an APP position within the Burn Institute upon entry into the program.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:
Active, unrestricted RN and APRN licensure
- Current certification as either:
- Acute Adult-Gerontology APRN, or
- Acute Pediatric APRN
- Bachelor's and graduate degree from an accredited nursing program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Current BLS certification

To be considered, applicants must complete all of the following:
- Complete the Career Launch application
- Apply to the Burn Center Advanced Practice Provider position and review full role requirements

- Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- Current BLS certification
- Three professional or academic references
- 300-word essay outlining:
- Professional goals
- Interest in dual certification
- Commitment to burn care at Akron Children's
Finalists must also apply and gain acceptance into the applicable Post-Master's Certificate Program through Case Western Reserve University.
Participant Expectations
Participants must:
- Apply and gain acceptance into the applicable Post-Master's Certificate Program through Case Western Reserve University.
- Maintain their budgeted FTE in the Burn Unit during the program
- Remain in good academic standing
- Earn a grade of B or higher
- Complete Three (3) years of service in the Adult and Pediatric Regional Burn Institute at Akron Children's Hospital after program completion
- Repayment may be required if program obligations are not met
