Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Acute Care Clinical Practice Expert is a registered nurse with advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in acute care, specifically telemetry and medical-surgical. This expert ensures high patient/family satisfaction and cost-effective care through evidence-based practice. They assess patient/family needs within Acute Care Services, plan/execute/evaluate nursing care, and implement coordinated programs for telemetry and medical-surgical patients.


As an expert practitioner, this role optimizes nursing quality through direct patient care, staff development, consultation, and research, while also facilitating policy writing and competency assessments. This individual leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based educational programs, orientations, and continuing education across multiple units or facility-wide. They manage programs for professional growth and competency, aligning with organizational mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. This role ensures quality, safety, and patient-centered care, collaborating with stakeholders for compliance with performance improvement plans, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.


Serving as a clinical leader, the Acute Care Clinical Practice Expert promotes excellence in clinical nursing care, acting as an advanced learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, champion for scientific inquiry, and advocate for nursing professional development. They foster interprofessional collaboration, teamwork, and drive evidence-based practice and teaching. This role develops, coordinates, and evaluates evidence-based clinical care by applying specialty knowledge and expert clinical practice across client, nurse, and system spheres of influence, adhering to all clinical and ethical standards.

Education
