The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $26.64 - $35.96 for MA and $28.47 – $42.71 for LPN. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring delivery of quality nursing care to clinic patients as directed by physicians and other healthcare providers. The Clinic LPN functions as a core member of the interdisciplinary care team and fulfills/shares the roles and responsibilities of rooming nurse, resource nurse, and clinical support nurse in the ambulatory patient care setting.

Essential Functions

Assesses and implements patient care under supervision. Prepares patient for examination.
Provides direct patient care. Assists provider with examination and treatment of patient as directed.
Under the oversight of provider, may be responsible for telephone triage using age specific triage protocol books and computerized resources.
Documents patient care in health record according to department standards.
Obtains and conveys information to and from patients, pharmacies, and other providers as directed and supervised by a licensed provider. May obtain referral authorizations for treatment as directed by provider.
Ensures own professional effectiveness through continued education and professional development.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant/Medical Office Assistant program, MA Apprenticeship program, or accredited State Board of Nursing LPN program.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year Preferred: clinical experience as an LPN or medical office experience as an MA.
Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

Credentials

Required: Upon Hire Washington State MA certification (MA-C) or LPN licensure.
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at date of hire.
If an MA, National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.

Skills

Basic computer skills required including familiarity with MS Office applications. (Required)
Must have cooperative working and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of patients, families and staff. (Required)
Effective prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple clinical tasks at one time. (Required)

The pulmonary clinic is a short walk away from Grounds and Grains or the Hospital Cafe where the team often enjoys a short walk together to get coffee, breakfast or an afternoon warm cookie from the hospital. The specialty supports both pulmonology and sleep. Day-to-day basic overview includes rooming, paperwork, in-basket, and scrubbing / prepping charts for sleep patients including downloading CPAP data for sleep patient visits. We work with a strong team of providers who are willing to teach and share their education on complex conditions, including hosting educational sessions to review certain diagnoses throughout the year. This position has the potential, for interested caregivers, to do some additional training, cross-coverage and education on procedures such as setting up, hosting appointments, downloading data, and cleaning home sleep study units with training from our skilled sleep technician, as well as learning from our skilled respiratory therapist team to perform walking oximetry, nocturnal oximetry setup, appointments and downloads, as well as performing basic pulmonary function testing such as spirometry with flow volume loop. In collaboration with the healthcare team, assists physicians/providers in the delivery of patient care working within the scope of practice. Essential Functions Prepares patients for examination and treatment or anesthesia interview as applicable. Takes and records patient history and vital signs as applicable.
