The NEURO ICU 7 DCT at Duke University Hospital is comprised of a 35-bed state of art attached to the Level 1 Trauma Center. Our Duke Neuro ICU achieved Stroke Gold Plus and Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for ‘Get with the Guidelines-Stroke’ and ‘Target: Stroke’. This is an award for having the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve patient care and outcomes in the community we serve. Job Summary:

As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by DUHS Professional Practice model participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health related projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

· Previous work experience (1+ years) as a clinical nurse is required for CNII’s.

· Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.

All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:

Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.
