The Patient Care Manager provides interdisciplinary leadership, clinical practice, and staff development to one or more defined areas of nursing services. The manager utilizes the concepts of participative management to plan, innovate, coordinate, direct and evaluate patient services to ensure that services are provided within the philosophy and objectives as well as policies and procedures of the Division of Patient Services and to ensure that nursing care standards are maintained across the continuum. The manager demonstrates fiscal responsibility in the allocation of available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate care. Shared decision making is promoted by providing input from the staff and manager into executive level decisions and by keeping staff informed of executive level activities. The manager demonstrates evidence of ability to draw on knowledge from the following areas: Clinical practice guidelines, standards, and best practices, evidenced-base administration, fiscal management, healthcare evaluation and outcome measures, measurement of patients needs and nursing workload, performance improvement, service excellence, and systems for patient safety. Estimated salary range for this position is $112081.46 - $149068.34 / year depending on experience.

  • Member of a professional nursing organization.
  • Certification in area of specialty or in Nursing Administration within 2 years of signing, promotion or hire.
  • Other certifications may apply based on area of specialty.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP required as per unit standard.

As Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) in the Cath Lab, you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination within this unit. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the best support and treatment possible. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units. Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts. Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues. Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers. Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues. Interview, select and orient new caregivers. Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care. Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts. Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives. Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs. Other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Two years of recent clinical nursing experience Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Prior charge nurse or leadership experience Cath Lab experience Experience with high-level procedures Charge nurse experience Physical Requirements: The position requires a considerate amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance. The individual will be required to pull up or re-position patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment or supports, push beds throughout the hospital and perform external cardiac compressions. The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties such as check chest tube drainage, check urine output, etc. The individual must be able to quickly maneuver throughout halls, stairways and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. In the event there is a need to evacuate the building, heavy lifting will be required to carry patients to safety. Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department directors, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem-solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers. Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, directing staff, and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
