NAH Nurse Residency Info Session Flier _ 2026 Responsibilities The Nurse Resident is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age-specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Nurse Residents will be under the direct supervision of a preceptor for all principal duties and responsibilities during the training program with eventual transition to independent practice after successful training program completion. Upon completion of the yearlong (12 months) nurse resident program the nurse resident will transition to the RN job description. Nurse Resident – An employee who has just exited nursing school, is newly licensed, or an experienced RN new to the acute care setting. It is strongly recommended that the applicant obtains the soonest possible NCLEX test date in the event retesting is necessary.Nurse Residents will participate in New Colleague & RN Orientation, CERNER Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training, Basic ECG Interpretation & ACLS certification.NAH provides a hybrid & dynamic learning environment geared toward all types of learning styles. Continued learning schedule is compatible with shift work and consists of a 4-hour module or in-person class once every four weeks. This time will provide additional opportunities for learning clinical concepts, providing emotional support and enhancing professional growth. Qualifications Position Requirements: - Arizona RN license required by nurse residency start date. -BLS required- Nurse Resident must successfully complete ACLS training prior to independent practice. ACLS will be provided as part of the residency program. Education: *Associate Degree in Nursing- Required*New hire RNs and those hired on or after 7/1/2016 - Must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete within 5 years of hire. Dialysis RN Lead Flagstaff

Overview The Dialysis RN Lead under supervision of their manager and/or is responsible for implementation of education programs for dialysis staff and offering onboarding for new colleagues. They will have direct accountability to assist in education and training, customer service and patient safety. The Lead Dialysis RN provides leadership and will be the subject matter expert ensuring regulatory standards are followed. They will serve as a preceptor, and be an active member of the healthcare team. The Lead Dialysis RN is a professional registered nurse with expert knowledge in utilization criteria and regulatory documentation requirements. S/he acts as an advocate for the Dialysis team, making sure the Clinical Manager/Director are aware of the unique needs of the team. S/he provides leadership for the Dialysis team by overseeing staff, fielding daily concerns, participating in process improvement initiatives, overseeing education of team and providers, and fostering collaborative relationships. This individual ensures staff education and clinical practice guideline adherence. Additionally, the lead orients staff and coordinates staff schedule, coordinates the department’s document control, and provides supervisory coverage in the manager's absence. This role also provides professional nursing care to assigned patients with kidney conditions that require dialysis treatment. Reviews patient histories, administers medications, and performs dialysis treatments. Ensures dialysis machine and all products used during a treatment are properly prepared and meet quality standards. Monitors the patient during dialysis, records observations in patient medical records, and reports any changes in condition to the physician as needed and partners with technicians that perform monitoring or patient care tasks during a treatment. This position will oversee operations at both FMC/VVMC, run water testing quality results, preparing quality reports and coordinating educational needs and onboarding. Responsibilities Patient Care * Addresses patient and family concerns, communicates issues and solutions through appropriate channels. * Documents incidents, events, interventions, and patient/staff/physician responses. * Serves as a patient advocate. * Prioritizes and problem solves to meet changes in patient status/condition. * Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals to ensure staffing patterns meet appropriate skill mix necessary for quality patient care. * Quickly and accurately assess patient care needs. * Serves as a liaison with patients, physicians, House Supervisor, Staffing Office, Transfer Center, Care Coordination department, unit staff, ancillary staff and departments. . * Maintain compliance with Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA). * Serves as a resource, assists other staff in caring for patients; able to assist physician with order entry into EMR. * Monitors and documents status of vascular accesses using proper cannulation or central venous catheter techniques in accordance with state, federal, and local regulations. * Documents patient observations and seeks guidance when levels are out of normal range for hospitalized dialysis patient. * Reports patient parameters as needed. * Obtains blood samples per hospital policy and procedure and appropriately sends them to the lab as needed. * Oversees set up and monitoring of dialysis machines and reverse osmosis water system for correct functioning, responds to visual and audible alarms and makes appropriate adjustments before, during and after the dialysis treatment, performs safety checks as needed prior to, during and following dialysis treatment. Administrative * Staffing for current and next shift, determining appropriate staff levels and mix to provide quality care and maintain unit productivity. * Oversees scheduling and productivity, addresses work flow issues, ensures incidents are appropriately documented and corrective steps are taken. * Demonstrated knowledge of NAH and department policies and procedures. Participates in or leads process improvement initiatives utilizing organizational tools and resources. * Assists in hiring, orientation, and training of new staff. Works to ensure best practice among each staff member. * Keep logs, quality reports, policies and procedures up to date. Team Coaching and Development * Ensures staff accountability, monitors staff performance, and provides real time constructive feedback whenever possible. * Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals. * Identifies performance opportunities for improvement and provides resources and education as needed. Overview Ensuring the achievement of Northern Arizona Healthcare’s mission, the Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of care for patients and their families including direct care, patient and family education and discharge planning. When providing care, Registered Nurses follow the process of assessing, nursing diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing and evaluation as the basis for the delivery of care.
