Overview
Works under the supervision of Nursing Manager, Supervisor, RN, LPN and is ultimately responsible to the Director and the Assistant Director of Nursing, as applicable. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs tasks essential to the direct care of the resident according to facility policy and procedures.

What you will do

  • Allows resident choices within limits of capability considering safety /dignity issues and follows policies and procedures of facility to include resident privacy and dignity.
  • Assists with ensuring hygiene, appearance, safety and nutritional needs of residents are met. Provides resident care and services to maintain or improve resident functional status to highest practical ability. Documents accurately in EMR resident's ADL care, personal hygiene, bowel and bladder habits, and behaviors.
  • Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.


Qualifications

Experience

  • Less than 1 year Nurse Aide Work Experience (6 months or Greater) in Long Term Care or Assisted Living Facility (Required)
  • 1 year Certified Nursing Assistant Experience (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
  • First Aid - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)

Riverside's Lifelong Health Earn and Learn Nurse Aide Program (Hospitality Assistant to CNA)- Mathews

Mathews, Virginia Riverside's Nurse Aide Program is intended to transition new hires from Hospitality Assistants to fully licensed Certified Nurse Aides. In this program, you will begin by working as a Hospitality Assistant in a labor pool (as needed) status until your scheduled course begins. The course is an accelerated 4-week program that will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to take and pass your CNA boards. Classes require full-time day shift hours (participants are paid for all course and clinical hours). Following the completion of the program and passing the Virginia Board of Nursing – Nurse Aide exam, you will move into a full-time or part-time CNA position at the location in which you are hired. Full-time CNA positions require a 12-month work commitment and part-time requires an 18-month work commitment upon graduation. Status is determined by facility need. The work commitment must be fulfilled in a Lifelong Health facility (skilled rehab, long term care, or assisted living). Positions in home health or acute care do not qualify for the Earn and Learn program.
