Ensures patient receives appropriate return to work documentation and follow up information at discharge; communicates return to work, referral, and billing information to employer, Service Coordinator, or third party administrators.

Recognizes and responds to emergency situations with competence and composure; notifies appropriate personnel and external agencies.

Ensures efficient and accurate computer data entry of all necessary (ie. date of service corrections. updates) demographic and insurance information to allow timely in processing and flow of patients.

Appropriately addresses routine questions regarding departmental operations.

Demonstrates correct use of department specific equipment.

Demonstrates knowledge of common formats for correspondence and reports.

Accurately opens, sorts and routes mail. Prepares daily paperwork and distributes in a timely manner.

Utilizes neat legible handwriting.

Monitors inventory and business office supplies, utilizes resources appropriately.

Maintains security and confidentiality of medical records.

Ensures support of medical record preparation at beginning of business day.

Ensures timely dispensation of completed charts.

Responsible for registration's petty cash and financial records. Accurately records deposits, performs daily deposits count.

Ensures that financial transactions follow generally accepted accounting practice and facility practice.

Analyzes work area for potential cost effective improvements.

Utilizes resources appropriately avoiding wasteful practices.

Keeps files up to date, keep departmental logs (ie. work orders, substance abuse testing records, purchase orders)

Assists with data collection for performance improvements activities.

Responsible for patient courtesy area (ie. replace magazines, maintain clean/neat appearance, ensures water cooler refilled).

Completes dept/hospital required competencies as required.

Attends mandatory facility meeting as required.

Attends department meetings as required.

Performs breath and/or urine substance abuse testing in accordance with established policies/procedures and ensure appropriate disposition of specimen via lab or courier pick up.

Escorts patient required diagnostic testing in other hospital departments to those areas when necessary in a safe and courteous manner.

Transports urine, blood or other biologic specimens to lab following established policies/procedures.

Communicates appropriate patient information via phone, fax, or email to services coordination, employers, or insurance agents for purposes of return to work, continuum of care, and/or reimbursement.

Picks up supplies from other hospital departments as instructed.

Accepts other duties as assigned.

Accesses and monitors hospital e-mail.
