- Role: . Full-time Day shift Surgical Technologist
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, 10-hour shifts that includes every other weekend, 0845-1915
- Location : Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon
- Unit: 26 OR Suites that include 2 CVOR and 2 hybrid
- Special features: State of Art technology that includes DaVinci XI and 5, Smart ORs

- A current wage range of $41.67 – $58.31 (hourly rate dependent upon related work experience and terms of the AFT Technical collective bargaining agreement)
- $1/hr weekend differential
- $2.50/hr evening shift differential after 3pm

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.
Details of the position:
- Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
- Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
- Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
- Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
- Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
- Required: Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist
- Required: Surgical Technologist Certification from nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists.
- In lieu of the above education and certification requirements: may consider completion of a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and have completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
- Required: Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification
- Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs
- Preferred: 1 year Experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated (Required)
- Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required)
- Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)
- Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)
- For those who have practiced surgical technology in a health care facility in Oregon or another state or as an employee of an agency or institution of the federal government for at least two of the three years prior to January 1, 2017, certification is not required but caregiver must have completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
Working Conditions:
Lifting
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
- Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
