This is a benefited, full-time position generally working 8-hr day shifts Monday-Friday with varied start times. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Clinic in Encinitas. Required to float to Scripps Jefferson (in Oceanside) based on department needs, in addition to our other Orthopedic sites if the need persists.

What You'll Do

  • Order and referral Entry
  • Documentation of Patient Encounters
  • Rooming patients
  • Checking vitals
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Basic registration and updating of demographics

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification

  • One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting
  • Previous experience in Orthopedic Surgery
