Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA/MA Sr) is a healthcare professional and an essential member of the patient-centered healthcare team. The MA/MA Sr is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Remaining compliant with all organization educational, licensure or certification
  • Cross-training and floating as needed to provide services across sites and to maintain optimal clinic operations

Licenses & Certifications and Educational Requirements

Medical Assistant (MA):

Education: High school diploma (or GED) required plus one of the following:

  • Completion of an MA program, or
  • Completion of an EMT-Basic course, or
  • Trained on the job MA AND one year experience in health care, or
  • Completion of an MA Apprentice program

Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire.

Experience: 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.

Medical Assistant Senior (MA Sr):

Education: HS Diploma or GED is required.

Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Providers (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
Additionally, one of the following is required:

  • Military Medic/Corpsman training (must also obtain one of the certifications or licenses below within 6 months of hire), or
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following:
    1. Credentialed in ABR-OE (Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry), or
    2. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or
    3. Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or
    4. NRCMA - Medical Assistant through the National Association for Health Professionals, or
    5. CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or
    6. Certified Medical Assistant through the National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE)
  • Certified Paramedic, or
  • Advanced EMT, or
  • Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program and current active LPN license, or
  • Other certification from an approved body as maintained by Froedtert Human Resources

MEDICAL ASSISTANT TRAINEE, FCH - WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

FTE: 1.000000 Shift: 1 A Medical Assistant Trainee will develop competency in and demonstrate ability to perform the duties of a Medical Assistant. This is an in-person position functioning under direct supervision of the Medical Assistant Trainer and progressing to performing MA duties and MA decision making under general clinical supervision. Medical Assistant Trainees complete a training program overseen by Froedtert sponsored training partners and demonstrates progressive competency to include, pre-visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions, and helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit. The purpose of this position is to successfully complete training and promote candidates into a MA role. Candidates will be required to complete an HR interview, pass a TABE test, interview with a hiring leader, meet eligibility requirements through the Medical Assistant Accelerated Pathway to Employment Training (MAAPET) program, and accept a job offer with Froedtert Health to be accepted into the program. After successful completion of the class, clinicals, and passing of the CCMA exam (must be taken within 2 weeks of completing clinicals), candidates will interview for a Medical Assistant position within the organization. Candidates will be required to commit to 2 years as a Medical Assistant with Froedtert Health.
