Summary:
SYSC Registered Nurse II- Performs general or specialized nursing duties under the direction of the SYSC Nursing Coordinator in the care and treatment of SYSC residents; utilizes the nursing process to perform the duties of staff nurse in terms of administration of medication and medical treatment, comprehensive treatment planning with multi-disciplinary treatment team. Upholds the vision and mission of the agency through utilizing the Practice Model theories, beliefs and principles in daily practice
SYSC Registered Nurse III To provide care and treatment to a variety of SYSC residents. Responsible for administration of medication, comprehensive medical treatment planning and can assist the SYSC Nurse Coordinator with supervision and training of SYSC nursing staff. The RN III utilizes the Nursing Process to manage resident's presenting behavior and assist in meeting immediate and long-term needs for help. Practice within standards of the department, center, and regulatory agencies. Upholds the vision and mission of the agency through utilizing the Practice Model theories, beliefs and principles in daily practice
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Nurse II- Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program with either affiliate or postgraduate courses and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics and psychiatric nursing.
Experience: One year's experience as a registered nurse in a setting equivalent to the position assigned.
License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire SYSC
SYSC Registered Nurse III- Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program with either affiliate or postgraduate courses and clinical experience.
Experience: Two years' experience as a registered nurse in a setting similar or equivalent to the position assigned.
License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be certified by the American Nurses Association or an organization recognized by the ANA in a specialty that is consistent with the job accountabilities and appropriate to the institution or agency in which the vacancy exists; e.g., Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse, Gerontological Nurse, Maternal and Child Health Nurse, etc. All nurse certification requirements must be specified on the supplemental job description and approved by the Board of Nursing, in cooperation with the Division of Personnel License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
Responsibilities:
REGISTERED NURSE II
Observes, records and signs symptoms of SYSC residents physical, emotional and mental condition.
Applies nursing process techniques in the care and treatment of SYSC residents with physical and/or emotional needs.
Interacts cooperatively with other health care providers in meeting the health needs of SYSC residents and communicates information to intradepartmental team.
Acts as a professional liaison/consultant on a 24-hour basis in providing a professional resource to SYSC direct care staff to enhance milieu management.
Monitors the outcome or effectiveness of the treatment regime as well as medication side effects and for maximum effectiveness of medications dispensed and reports these directly to the SYSC Nursing Coordinator and physicians.
Performs medical procedures under the direction of a physician such as specimen collection or performs medical treatments that expose the employee to a potential infectious diseases or life threatening diseases.
Admits, transfers and discharges SYSC residents in accordance with policy and procedure.
Responsible, for coordinating medical information from and for coordinating follow-up care with outside agencies either verbally or in written form.
Responsible for SYSC resident teaching regarding medical testing to be done or in regards to health issues pertinent to the resident or appropriate for the resident’s age.
Responsible for coordinating and arranging appointments for medical testing with outside agencies, making arrangements for further testing as required, or obtaining medical appliances or equipment as needed by the resident.
Acts as a contributing member of a muli-disciplinary treatment team engaged in the treatment of acute and chronic physical and emotional disturbances at the center or other health care facility.
Must perform accountabilities in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
Communicates with SYSC supervisors regarding issues related to workplace safety.
Performs specialized nursing techniques such as encountered in the practice of professional duties including psychotherapeutic and medical/surgical practices.
Participates in the orientation and possible supervising of new nursing staff.
Coordinates and participates in medical rounds with physicians and/or PA, dental clinics, and teen clinic and communicates information to the interdepartmental team.
Participates in SYSC resident/family/guardian education to facilitate positive resident outcome.
REGISTERED NURSE III
Applies nursing process techniques in the care and treatment of SYSC residents with a variety of diagnoses.
Acts as a professional liaison/consultant on a 24-hour basis in providing a professional resource to SYSC direct care staff to enhance milieu management.
Participates with physicians in evaluating and assessing SYSC resident’s physical or emotional status and coordinates implementation of the medical regimen.
Provides staff with general in-service training to teach skills and impart knowledge necessary to performing the duties of direct patient care.
Observes, records and reports signs and symptoms of SYSC residents physical, emotional and mental condition.
Monitors for medication side effects and for maximum effectiveness of medications dispensed and reports these directly to the SYSC nursing coordinator and physicians.
Performs medical procedures under the direction of a physician such as specimen collection or performs medical treatments that expose the employee to potential infectious diseases or life threatening diseases.
