Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

We’re Looking For:
Licensure or Certifications
- LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
- MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Degrees:
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
- LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing
- MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.

As a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.
As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:
- Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
- Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
About This Location:
Main Location: Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore-5900 S Lake Dr., Cudahy, WI. This position also requires travel to Southpointe (6901 W Edgerton Ave., Greenfield, WI) as well as Aurora Sinai Medical Center at (945 N 12th Street, Milwaukee, WI).
The Neurology program at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center (ASLMC) provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for brain, spine, and nervous system conditions. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the team treats complex movement, memory, and neuromuscular disorders. This role will include working closely with a multiple sclerosis physician and another RN.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
