What You’ll Do At DBH
Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator (Psych/DD Nurse Coordinator) to guide the professional growth of our nursing team. This role plays a key part in building clinical skills, supporting ongoing development, and ensuring staff are trained to care for individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities. The Nurse Educator also collaborates with schools, colleges, and training partners to strengthen educational opportunities for current and future nurses.
Key Duties
- Educate, mentor, and support nursing and clinical staff
- Serve as a lead worker and provide direction in daily nursing activities
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate in‑service nursing training programs
- Lead clinical education efforts and support continuous staff development
- Manage continuing education requirements and ensure compliance
- Conduct orientation for new nurses, clinical staff, and student learners
- Write and approve Continuing Education (CE) applications
- Maintain accurate employee training and education records
- Provide supervisors with training‑related performance information
- Prepare and manage statistical reports for training and compliance
- Act as a liaison with schools, colleges, and educational partners
This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 14 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 1st Shift, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm and 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. This position is located within our Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Facility at 1756 Sagamore Road, Northfield, Ohio.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Position Qualifications
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 12 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in counseling; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.
OR
The equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.

12 months experience in employee professional development.
OR
12 months experience in nursing education; 1 course or 3 months experience in public speaking or effective communication skills.
