Job Description
To manage the new patient access to UAB s cancer services for a specific group of physicians (disease based). To ensure that the patient is scheduled with the correct specialist and oversee the acquisition of outside medical records, pathology slides and radiology images to ensure they are clinically appropriate to support the new patient visit. To review patient charts in order to identify missing pieces and requests them. To contact each new patient and/or referring provider within one (1) business day after the new patient appointment is made to confirm that he/she is scheduled to see the correct provider, knows what to expect at the first visit (ie, parking, what to bring) to answers any additional questions and to assure an exceptional first interaction with the O Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Qualifications
Associate's Degree from an accredited school of professional nursing and one (1) year of clinical experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and oncology nursing experience preferred. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
