Responsibilities

The Emergency Medical Technician-NKDH, (EMT) delivers frontline emergency medical care and safe patient transportation within the EMT Basic scope of practice. This position responds to 911 calls, performs patient assessments, provides basic life support (BLS), and assists higher level clinicians when needed. The EMT ensures the ambulance and equipment are ready for service, maintain accurate documentation, communicates effectively with dispatch and healthcare partners, and operates with professionalism, safety, and compassion. This role plays a vital role in protecting public health and supporting emergency response operations within the community.

 

**This role requires driving Norton Healthcare vehicles, which could include transporting patients and visitors.  You must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record**


Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Driver License and Indiana (State) EMT Certification

Desired:

  • One year Basic EMT
  • High school diploma or equivalent

How you make a difference The Certified Medication Technician is responsible for administering prescribed medications under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role includes documenting medication administration, adhering to infection control protocols, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician participates in audits and data collection to support performance improvement efforts. They monitor for adverse reactions and report them promptly while maintaining medication supply levels. The technician also ensures patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Key Responsibilities Administer medications under RN supervision in compliance with policy and regulations Document medication administration and reasons for non-administration in the MAR Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols during medication delivery Participate in audits and report adverse reactions to supervisors Maintain medication supplies and uphold HIPAA confidentiality standards Qualifications & Requirements EDUCATION High School graduate or equivalent. EXPERIENCE 1 year related experience in a medical environment preferred. Responsibilities The Emergency Med Tech (EMT) Transport is responsible for the ground/air transportation of the patient and/or the Transport Team in both emergency and non-emergency situations, while ensuring the safety of the patient, team and public at large. The EMT Transport is also responsible for the maintenance of all regulatory documentation relating to ground and/or air transportation, and assures all vehicles and transport equipment are maintained in a clean and safe operating condition. The Emergency Medical Tech Transport assists other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care. The major focus for the position is on preparation and handling of instrumentation, equipment and assisting the physician, registered nurse, and respiratory therapist during the procedure. The EMT Transport must be knowledgeable of specific procedures or specialties, effectively prioritize, and effectively plan and problem solve due to the changing nature of the work situation during the procedures and environment. This individual must have the ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations at bedside, vehicular, and in flight. The EMT Transport must also have basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system and aseptic technique, and defensive driving, aerodynamics and be able to apply this knowledge in all patient and family interactions.
