
Registered Nurse - Pre-Admission (Full-Time, Days)
Job Description
The PreAdmit Testing RN initiates the patients plan of care and communicates the needs of the patient based on data collection; performs pre-admission procedures with regard to obtaining physician ordered lab work, EKG's, xrays and medication for surgical patients or other patients requiring out-patient testing.
Responsibilities
Experience -Prior health care experience including patient assessment/data collection; phlebotomy skills; chart review including physician orders and pre-admission procedures preferred.
Education - Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing; holds current licensure Licensed Registered Nurse

Responsibilities
- TECHNICAL TASKS
- Accurately clinical obtains information and legibly documents on appropriate forms (nursing, physician orders).
- Tests request via computer; appropriately and accurately labels all specimens and secures them for transport to the lab.
- Plans and organizes work according to the patients needs and the needs of the department
- Accurately carries out physician orders for diagnostic testing.
- Performs patient/family teaching when necessary to ensure proper specimen collection.
- Identifies patient needs and sends referrals based on the patients clinical information and the department specific referral criteria
- Performs phlebotomy and EKG tasks safely and accurately to avoid errors, delays or patient/staff injury
- Coordinates the flow of patients to minimize waiting time and avoid delays
- CRITICAL THINKING
- Reviews, verifies, and assesses data collected at time of Pre-admit/Admit and initiates the appropriate plan of care.
- At the time of pre-admit and /or admit with input from the patient/family and health care team, initiates and documents a patient plan of care that notes referrals, education, and discharge planning for optimum outcomes.
- Effective in planning and use of work time, ability to set priorities, assist others, creative in utilization of extra time. Completes work in a scheduled time without affecting quality of care or productivity of department.
- Prioritizes, coordinates, and/or provides interventions as identified in the patients multi-disciplinary plan of care.
- Reviews physician orders for clarity; contacts physician if problems or questions arise.
- Consistently anticipates the needs of the patient and department by reviewing appropriate schedules, noting problems and providing effective and timely communication to physician/appropriate departments.
- Promptly seeks assistance from appropriate personnel when problems arise and is unable to handle them or provide the appropriate response.
- Remains calm and reassuring during emergency situations and is able to provide accurate instructions
