Registered Nurse - SWAT - Rapid Response Team

Department: Nursing Admin (Acute Care Units)

Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 72

Daily Work Times: 7pm - 7:30am

Position Summary:

Registered nurse who functions as the hospital wide SWAT Nurse who responds to patient care units to handle urgent or emergency patient care needs. Provides emergency response as needed based on specific unit needs, patient activity and crisis situations of an intermittent nature.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responds to medical emergency problems including Code Blue’s, Rapid Responses, and Code MTP’s. Supports floor staff with concerns regarding patient decline/clinical assessment.
  • The RN will demonstrate the ability to quickly assess a patient when there has been a change in status and help to monitor and provide intervention for the patient.
  • Accompanies Critical Care patients when they must be transported within the hospital (ex. MRI, diagnostic tests, IR, ER to ICU)
  • Assist floor staff with difficulty IV starts and utilize ultrasound guided IV placement as needed.
  • The RN is responsible for participating in the quality outcomes specific to the units or hospital and adheres to all regulatory requirements. The RN maintains a collaborative relationship with multiple disciplines within the organization.
  • Active participant in Code Blue Committee including performing audits and action plans required for this committee.
  • Adheres to documentation policies and requirements.
  • Promotes customer service; anticipates and responds to the needs of others; provide assistance in a courteous and quick manner.
  • Adheres to standards of nursing practice of McLaren Oakland Region, which consists of systematic approach to nursing practice by using nursing process.
  • Demonstrates the successful judgment and the ability to understand, react effectively and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of various patient age groups served.
  • Independently applies problem-solving approach in meeting needs of patient.
  • Demonstrates loyalty to philosophy, policies, and practices of McLaren Oakland.
  • Participates in educational endeavors, and in-service meetings.
  • Demonstrates skills in interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and co-workers. Recognizes need to establish rapport with patients, able to effectively interview.
  • Interprets and adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety practices of McLaren.
  • Utilizes good communication skills with patient, family, medical staff, and personnel.
  • Performs other duties as required or requested

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Active Michigan RN license
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification
  • Previous experience in critical care/emergency department setting

Preferred:

  • CCRN certification
  • TNCC certification
  • Ultrasound Guided IV insertion experience

Clinical Research Registered Nurse

Department: Clinical Research (RN position - Detroit) Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 80 Shift: Full-Time Days Daily Work Times: 8:00am-4:30pm Position Summary: The CRN is a member of the clinical research team and assists in the recruitment, compliance and follow-up of patients that are eligible for, or registered to a clinical trial.
