Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Observes patients from special care units requiring direct nurse attention.
- Operates recorders and physiological monitoring and therapeutic equipment as necessary.
- Contributes to the educational and competency processes of the Radiology Department.
- Assists in prepping patients, moving patients, and setting up for procedures.
- Administers medication, IV injections, sedation, and takes vital signs as needed.
- Assist in patient/family education.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with radiology staff, radiologists, supervisors and all contractors.
- Meets physiological and psychosocial patient needs.
- Assists in procedure records, consent forms, and maintains logbooks for departmental use.
- Assists administration in planning and developing policies and procedures regarding nursing care of patients in the department of Radiology.
- Adapts care to the patient's level of development/age-specific needs.
Qualifications
- A Nursing Degree from an accredited college
- Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Louisiana
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
