Key responsibilities
Core duties include, but are not limited to:
• Partners with patients and families to identify individual preferences, needs, and values, ensuring those values guide all clinical decision-making
• Performs comprehensive physical assessments and integrates findings with patient and family preferences to establish mutual care goals
• Develops and implements an individualized plan of care based on current evidence-based best practices
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team to deliver holistic, timely, and coordinated care
• Evaluates and documents patient progress toward established goals and outcomes throughout the care episode
• Adjusts the plan of care as needed to expedite patient progress and respond to changes in condition
• Maintains compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and applicable legal and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Required:
• Diploma or Associate degree in Nursing required
• Current Rhode Island RN licensure required
• BLS certification required
• Within 18 months of hire, creates a written development plan to achieve an advanced nursing degree or certification in an approved specialty relevant to the patient population served
• Within 36 months of hire, completes the academic program or certification outlined in the development plan
Preferred:
• BSN preferred
• 1–2 years of previous nursing experience preferred
Physical requirements
This role requires the following physical capabilities; reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
• Works in a well-lighted and well-ventilated patient care area
• Must meet annual safety training and health-testing requirements
• Frequent patient contact requires adherence to universal precautions at all times
• Visual acuity and hand dexterity required
• Physical ability to perform a variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, stretching, and reaching
• May be required to lift heavy objects weighing 25 pounds or more
