Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Internists

Purpose of Position: To evaluate and treat clinical patients. Assist physicians and provide walk-in coverage as needed.

Description

  • Under the general administrative direction of the Medical Director and the direction of the supervising physician for patient care issues; provide annual health examinations, routine follow-up and evaluation, and treatment of acute and chronic medical problems of patients.
  • Assist in care of specific patients, provide diagnostic assessment and therapeutic services to ill or injured patients, initiate and arrange consultations and referrals and promote the concept of cooperation and develop open lines of communication with patients, employees, physicians, administrators and other personnel within and outside the hospital.
  • Provide clinical training and education to staff of Primary Care Internists.
  • Interact with staff of Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice and other private agencies to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Teach and counsel patients in medical office. Communicate with out-patients.
  • Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the position and department to assure that the needs of the patients are met.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse licensed in Massachusetts
  • Certified by the Massachusetts Board Certified Nurse Practitioner and BLS certification
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications
  • US Department of Justice and Massachusetts’ Controlled Substance DEA Registrations are required for prescribing practitioners

Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Medical Staff

Purpose of Position: Provide medical services to general surgical patients in the OR, ER, and on in-patient floors during weekdays. Description Perform history and physical examination on general surgical emergency patients upon decision for admission. Ensure adequate medical clearance for general surgical pre-op patients by ordering the necessary consultations and testing. Serve as surgical first assistant to general surgeon doing elective and emergency surgery. Secondary priority will be first assisting for surgical subspecialties such as ENT, Urology, and Gynecology for elective cases will be performed. Provide first line general surgical evaluation and treatment for patients in the emergency room that have already been evaluated by an emergency room physician. Prepare patients for evaluation and treatment by an attending general surgeon if appropriate. Collaborate with general surgical residents to avoid duplication of services.
