Responsibilities

  • Performs personnel Functions for the department. Le recruitment, hiring disciplinary actions, counselling and education and follows university and hospital Policies related to personnel functions,
  • Documents all personnel actions appropriated supports all personnel as asset to the institution
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, coaches and mentors staff
  • Develops an annual budget that meets the department needs at the framework of resources
  • Coordinates with other department heads for effective resource use
  • Monitors budgetary expense and revenues, identifies variances and adjusts spending accordingly utilize cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
  • Evaluates and recommends space allocation and design for the needs of the department
  • Develops, implements and updates policies and procedures in a collaborative and interdepartmental process according to CAHD and hospital standards: Prepares and reviews bids sys distribution and use of supplies, materials and equipment supports the mission of the University of South Alabama by Translating and incorporating values in small and others
  • Provides an environment that supportive of medical, nursing and allied health students

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution or eligibility for enrollment in the RN to MSN program at the University of South Alabama and 4 years of professional nursing experience, 2 of which were in a supervisory or charge nurse capacity Required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). Upon Hire Required

Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Position Overview: Staff nurse will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with serious heart and vascular conditions. This includes recovering hearts from various cardiac procedures. Shifts are three 12-hour shifts one week and four 12-hour shifts the following week (every other weekend included). Unit Overview: We welcome New Grads! The Cardiac Intervention Unit (CIU) will facilitate care to the following patient populations: patients admitted for cardiac catheterization, elective coronary interventional procedures including PTCA, stent, atherectomy, electrophysiology testing and/or ablation, elective electrical cardioversion, permanent cardiac pacemaker or AICD implantation. CIU's nurse to patient ratio is 1:5. Anticipated length of stay for these patients is less than 48 hours. The unit provides expert quality care to patients utilizing an interdisciplinary collaborative approach in an effort to return the patient to their highest level of wellness.
