Job Description

Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital seeks an experienced RN for their ICU. Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital hasfourcritical care beds. We serve the Goleta and northern Santa Barbara area, including Isla Vista and the University of California, Santa Barbara. We offer our patients a critical care environment with personalized care. Our scope of service is predominantly intensive care unit patients with a smaller population of cardiac and medical intensive care patients. Our procedure room is used for after hours post-anesthesia recovery and endoscopy patients. Education and specialty certification is highly valued and promoted in the ICU. The ICU also promotes a healing environment of care and strives to meet the healthy work standards set by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Qualifications

  • California RN license
  • ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association
  • 1+ years' recent critical care or telemetry experience

Job Description Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Located in the city of Santa Barbara, California, Cottage Children's Medical Center is recognized today as a regional referral center for the medical needs of infants, toddlers, and children throughout the tri-county area. The primary focus of the 22 bed, Level III, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (served by a dedicated RN/RCP Transport team) is the provision of critical nursing care to the infant in crisis. The neonatal patient may suffer from a wide variety of medical conditions such as prematurity, respiratory distress, meconium aspiration syndrome, hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, sepsis and surgical conditions requiring pre and post-operative care. Care ranges from the acute phase to patient needs or conditions necessitating close observation and interventions. The NICU utilizes a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team approach to meet the patient's needs throughout their hospital stay and we recognize the importance of parents and family as being an important members of the team. The Mother Infant Unit consists of 24 rooms and 29 beds; 5 rooms can accommodate semi-private occupancy, and a Level I newborn nursery area designed for the purpose of providing respite when needed, observation of high risk infants, and a procedure room. The philosophy of the unit is to foster family unity in a Baby Friendly™ environment while respecting parental choices regarding feeding and rooming- in, providing safe and therapeutic care. Health Care providers in this area mimic those in the Birth Center with the inclusion of pediatric care providers and lactation specialists. MIU provides supportive care of the mother/infant dyad with focus on the family, infant and self-care procedures and education. Both human milk and formula feeding are supported and educated to, with special emphasis on the benefits of human lactation.
