Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Interventional Radiology Nurse role based at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. The Interventional Radiology Nurse will provide direct patient care before, during, and after interventional radiology procedures, including patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, and recovery. Responsibilities include administering medications and contrast agents, managing IV lines, assisting radiologists and other clinicians during procedures, and ensuring adherence to safety and infection control protocols. The role involves patient and family education on procedures and post-procedure care, accurate documentation in the medical record, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and participation in quality and process improvement initiatives within the interventional radiology department.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Rhode Island (or eligibility to obtain), with BLS and ACLS certification.
- Clinical skills in patient assessment, IV therapy, medication administration, and monitoring of vital signs and sedation.
- Experience in interventional radiology, critical care, emergency, or perioperative nursing settings is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of radiology procedures, imaging safety, sterile technique, and infection control standards.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with physicians, technologists, and other care team members.
- Ability to prioritize, work in a fast-paced environment, respond to emergent situations, and support patient-centered care.
- Proficiency with electronic health records, documentation, and basic computer skills.
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN/BSN); BSN preferred, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
