The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for our General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division. The ARNP functions as a provider of gynecology services in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics. Gynecology services include history taking and health assessment, physical exams, both in clinic and exams under anesthesia in the operating suites, management of contraceptive needs and hormone replacement therapy, evaluating low acuity gynecologic problems, ordering and interpreting routine laboratory tests; undertaking diagnostic procedures such as endometrial biopsy and vulvar biopsy, insertion and removal of contraceptive devices and providing general health education and education about particular health problems or situations. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides consultation, comprehensive treatment planning and a broad range of services for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for gynecology, including oncology and reproductive endocrinology. Our comprehensive medial, surgical, and nursing services span the full spectrum of all obstetric and gynecologic patients at University of Iowa Health Care. In addition to patient care, the department is noted for its strong educational programs for medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. Basic and clinical research in reproductive medicine is an important departmental activity. Position Responsibilities Prepares complete detailed and accurate patient histories for wellness maintenance, contraceptive needs, menopausal symptoms, or minor gynecologic problems. Document findings on appropriate chart form which is recorded in patient medical record. This may involve dictating clinical notes. Perform, order and interpret routine laboratory tests; perform follow-up notification to patient about laboratory results, with particular attention to abnormal results. Prescribe medications in specified circumstances. Perform follow-up telephone consultation or contacts patients by mail regarding test results, and makes arrangements for follow-up as indicated. Follows-up on patients who do not return for scheduled appointments. Required Qualifications A Master’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. If Master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required. Current licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required. 1-3 years of experience as an APP in Women's Health. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as a liaison and to collaborate with physicians, staff, patients, and other customers. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work collaboratively with fellow APPs, orthopedic residents, and faculty surgeons within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. This role will support the Adult Hip and Knee Arthroplasty team in an outpatient clinic setting. Nurse Practitioner, Ortho Hand- North Liberty Campus

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work collaboratively with other APPs, fellows, residents, and Hand Team surgeons within the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Nurse Practitioner, Ortho Access- Sports Med and North Liberty Campus

The Orthopedic Access Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will independently evaluate and manage patients with a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions, with collaborative support from our subspecialty orthopedic teams. The primary objective of this clinic is to enhance timely access to orthopedic care. While the clinic will serve patients with a variety of musculoskeletal concerns, those with acute injuries will generally be directed to the Orthopedic Walk-In Clinic. For non-surgical cases, the APP will manage the patient’s care independently at our Prairie Meadow Drive location.. If surgical intervention is indicated, the APP will coordinate referral to the appropriate surgical team within the department. The role may also include performing in-office procedures such as joint injections, depending on the APP’s experience and clinical assessment. There may also be some cross coverage expected in the Orthopedic Injury Walk-In Clinic (North Liberty Campus). There the APP would see musculoskeletal injuries and pain that have occurred within 7 days. This occasionally requires splinting and casting. We provide training for this. This role requires someone who is organized, motivated, and very efficient. Schedule includes an evening shift every Thursday (12p-8pm) and every other Saturday (8a-2p).
