Responsibilities

  • The Surgical Tech handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
  • He/she understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
  • He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet at least one of the following:
    • Graduate from an accredited program or equivalent.
    • Certified Surgical Tech (CST).
    • 1+ years’ of prior operating room experience.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Position Details: Additional Job Description Located at the Orthopedic Hospital OZARK, MISSOURI PRN Minimum Qualifications: Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. Communication Management - Listens to physicians and communicates need to circulator in advance (anticipates). - Anticipates needs of surgeon by paying attention and responding appropriately. - Recognizes and reports emergency situations. - Communicates with physician, confirms correct specimen and disposition to circulator (under the direction of physician. - Communicates delays or completion before scheduled time to circulator to ensure efficient room utilization or schedule changes. - Communicates instrument and equipment problems to appropriate team member and identifies repair needs according to policy. Technology - Demonstrates competence in initiating and maintaining use of routine equipment and procedures. - Performs technical skills relative to specific specialties i.e., assembling instrumentation and equipment (retractors, power equipment, etc.) - Assists in evaluation of new products, equipment, policies, procedures and standard - Fills out appropriate paperwork to assist with decisions. Stewardship Awareness - Plans, organizes and evaluates work activities appropriately. - Works efficiently and quickly producing high quality work. - Conserves resources and watches for a better way to complete work.
