We have an exciting opportunity for a Full-time, Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) to join Ramapo Ridge.  Under the direction of the RN, the Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) performs the activities related to the implementation of nursing care plans and the nursing standards, policies and procedures. The PNA is responsible for contributing to the development, evaluation and reassessment of care plans through observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and physical status. The PNA is also responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the safe and therapeutic environment of the unit. The individual is competent to care for patients in the following age groups: adult (ages 19 - 64) and geriatric (ages 65 +). Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of the Christian Health Care Center.

 

Competencies:

  • Supervises or assists in after meal care (removing trays, encouraging patients in brushing teeth, washing up, etc.).
  • Serves food trays. Assists with feeding as indicated. 
  • Assists patients in preparing for activity and social programs, as per unit program schedules.
  • Answers call bells promptly.
  • Changes bed linens.
  • Assists or supervises patients to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
  • Reports all changes in the patient's condition to the Charge/Staff Nurse as soon as practical.
  • Keeps floors dry. Reports spills immediately.
  • Maintains intake and output records as instructed.
  • Greets and escorts patient to his/her room.
  • Informs the Charge/Staff Nurse of equipment and supply needs.
  • Records all supplies and equipment utilized for appropriate procedures to Charge/Staff Nurse.
  • Assists in transporting patients to/from appointments, activities and social programs, etc. as necessary/assigned.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all patient care information.

 

Schedule: Full-time, 3pm-11pm, Monday - Friday and Working Every other weekend.

 

Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a health care facility.
  • Experience in a psychiatric facility preferred.
  • Must be able to document changes of emotional and physical status of patients on patient care flow sheets.
  • Must be able to communicate with physicians, nursing staff, visitors, patients, families, other departments, in accordance to the philosophy and the Service Excellence standards.

Adapt to the provider's workflows and support the provider to maximize quality patient care and efficiency of the practice, including tasks such as scribing, managing patient records, and assisting with patient communication. Check all allergy testing equipment at the beginning of each shift and maintain all treatment rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Perform inventory responsibilities and stocking of allergy-related supplies and equipment as requested. Complete all required training and continued education opportunities within the allotted time frame, with a focus on allergy care. Assist the physician in allergy procedures, including skin prick tests, patch tests, spirometry, and immunotherapy injections. Prep exam rooms for all procedures and properly clean exam rooms after every visit. Properly assist the provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorization, obtaining consents, and procedures within established guidelines. Take payments, book follow-up visits, and track inventory used during visits as needed. Learn and adhere to new workflows including Klara paperwork, patient notifications, and patient messaging. Keep the office clean and remove waste. Assist in covering the front desk or greeter role when the office needs. Working knowledge and application of HIPAA & OSHA compliance. May be asked to do additional tasks for office and patient care as needed. Other duties as assigned by supervisor on an as needed basis. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant required; experience in an allergy practice preferred Medical Assistant Certification required CPR and AED Certifications required.
