Supervisor Nursing – Harbour View Medical Center

Job Summary:

Assists with supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas. Collaborates with interprofessional team to ensure safe and effective care delivery while promoting a culture of excellence. 

Essential Functions:

  • Leads a team of nurses and clinical support.  
  • Supports managers/directors on larger units. 
  • Performs managerial responsibilities 80% of time; works on ground support for frontline staff and assists in direct patient care as needed. 
  • Assists manager/director in planning and supervision of unit/department goals and objectives. 
  • Assists with managers/directors in planning and maintaining department's readiness for regulatory surveyors. 
  • Serves as professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource. 
  • Responsible for personal and professional growth as well as fostering an environment where interdisciplinary team members can contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally. 
  • Responsible for modeling core culture and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high reliability principles. 
  • Facilitates implementation of change management, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives in assigned areas. 
  • Supports mission and vision of the organization and adheres to BSMH policies. 
  • BSMH nurses are expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model

Education:

  • ​​​Bachelor of Science Nursing (required) ​​ 

Required Licensing & Certifications:

  • Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required) 
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting) 
  • Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees and the requirements for those specific units: 
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred) 
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred) 
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred) 
  • TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred)

Experience:
