Job Description

Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Responsible for screening walk-in patients, telephone screening (with protocols), medication/injection education, assist with procedures, cleaning wounds, dressing changes, catheter insertion, tracheostomy care, biopsies, and other duties as assigned by respective clinic . Able to work in a team atmosphere, as well as, autonomously. Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times. Delegates tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel UAP in accordance with demonstrated competencies and consideration to Scope of Practice. This role may require travel between our three clinics.

The Medical Assistant Program allows participants to learn about a variety of Saint Luke’s Physician Group clinics. The 10-week paid program will offer a comprehensive review of body systems including pharmacology, medical terminology, lab values and BLS certification. Medical Assistants in training will also be introduced to Saint Luke’s culture with an emphasis on customer service and patient safety.

Job Description Our GI clinic in North Kansas City is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their team! This position is approximately 70% on the phones and 30% rooming. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, equally comfortable dealing with insurance companies and patient concerns. On the phones, you will work with prior authorizations, medication refills, scheduling, referrals, and procedure follow up care. Our rooming expectations are standard – obtain vitals, perform medication reconciliation, and review medical history. Previous GI experience is a plus, but not required.
