Provides comprehensive healthcare to patients in collaboration with physicians and other medical staff in a clinic setting, including medical evaluation, treatment, counseling and referrals.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates clinical care that is safe, best practice with all Core Measures compliant.
Documents care provision per standards.
Collaborates with physicians and other health care providers
Evaluates, treats, counsels, and refers patients as appropriate in assigned settings (peri-op, inpatient, ER, and/or outpatient).
Examines patients, including discussing medical history and symptoms
Provides direct care and follow-up for patients in assigned setting (peri-op, inpatient, ER, and/or outpatient).
Writes prescriptions according to protocols
Performing preoperative assessment and post-operative follow-up visits to monitor patient progress.
Conducting inpatient surgical procedures under the supervision of a surgeon
Completes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frame.
Engages in departmental/hospital committees, PI projects, educational offerings to peers, mentoring/precepting of new team members.
Attends Staff Meetings, completes all required competencies and mandatory education as assigned.
Seeks training, educational, certification, and enhancement in focus are/specialty.

Collaborate closely with correctional healthcare staff, custody staff, mental health providers, and substance use counselors to ensure coordinated, safe, and effective care. Monitor patient adherence, response to treatment, and potential diversion risks within a correctional setting. Provide patient education on OUD, MAT, relapse prevention, overdose risk, and continuity of care upon release. Participate collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to create individualized treatment plans that address medical, behavioral health, and social determinants of health. Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record, including MAT-specific reporting and regulatory requirements. Participate in discharge planning and continuity-of-care coordination, including referrals to community-based MAT providers upon release. Maintain compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations related to controlled substances, MAT delivery, and correctional healthcare standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and program development related to OUD and MAT services. Stay current with evolving best practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory changes related to OUD treatment and MAT.
