How you make a difference

The Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic and specialized nursing care functions under the supervision of licensed nurses. They adhere to local and regulatory policies and procedures to ensure proper patient care. The Nursing Assistant collaborates with other healthcare team members and correctional officers to plan and implement patient care activities in a correctional setting. After a general orientation to medical-surgical and psychiatric patient care areas, they may also float between units to ensure adequate nursing staff for patient care areas. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse, including assistance with ADLs, vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data. 
  • Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes work flow to ensure completion of all assigned duties, while adhering to policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality. 
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues. 
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing procedures and proficiently uses medical supplies and equipment, while also ensuring their proper storage and cleaning. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, such as assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members. 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.   
  • Completion of training course for Nursing Assistants.   

Experience  

  • Work requires level of knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.   
  • Ability to handle a variety of simple tasks that are routine in nature, while keeping work flowing in an orderly manner.   
  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.   
  • Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.   
  • Ability to express thoughts logically, in English, in both written and verbal form.   
  • Ability to use computers and the typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and various database systems. 

Licenses/Certifications  

  • Current certification in the state of practice is required.

Activity Aide

POSITION DESCRIPTION Responsible for supporting the efforts of the Activity Director in the assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing of activity/recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the residents. We are looking for someone who has a great energy and likes to have fun with our residents! QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. • Activities Certification, preferred. • One-year experience working in long term care. • One years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES • Assists in the development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote the residents’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels. • Encourages resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc. • Assists in completing activity documentation, when needed, if trained and in conjunction with regulatory requirements and company policies. • Submits supplies list to Activity/Recreation Director and submits receipts for activity expenditures. • Maintains precautions/limitations list on each resident. • Assists Activity/Recreation Director in the organization and supervision of the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers. • Assists with Resident Council Meetings when necessary. • Assists in planning community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and residents. • Assists in the completion of a monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and posts it in the center. • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or assigned at any time with or without notice.
