Duties and Responsibilities: Med Tech

  • Provide direct care according to the individualized resident treatment plan
  • Help the nurses with the daily medication passes
  • Report to your charge nurse in the event of any medication (or other) concerns
  • Maintain current certification by attending & participating in training and educational classes
  • Deliver the highest quality of care possible to each resident, serving with kindness and compassion

 

Qualifications and Skills: Med Tech

The administration of medications shall be done in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of the facility, and the requirements of this state. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below. Under the supervision of nursing department, the medical support staff CMT will have the following requirements, duties, and responsibilities: Accurately safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in the facility that are ordered for participant use. Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed and dated order from an attending licensed physician. Verify that adequate supply of stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the participants. Report needs to supervisor. Verify that narcotic records are accurate for your shift. Follow facility policies and procedures regarding the destruction of medications. Provide medical transportation of residents to appointments. Obtain the necessary paperwork from the Physician/clinician and provide liaison work back to manager and facility. Schedule medical appointments, as requested. Obtain medication from the pharmacy and distribute to residences. Review medication inventory, documentation and expirations. Performs other related duties and activities as required, including providing DSP duties SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None Minimum Knowledge and Skills required for the Job The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Experienced direct care provider and CMT with a minimum of one year of positive performance in healthcare.
