JOB LOCATION : Lakeland Villa

DEPARTMENT: VIL - NURSING

SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8HR Evening Shift, 1445-2315

POSITION SUMMARY

  •  To deliver services which are supportive of the nursing care given by licensed and professional nurses.
  •  To perform duties in a manner that enhances each residents dignity, self esteem, mental, and physical well being. 
  • Provides responsive and compassionate care which is individualized for each resident. 
  • Demonstrates personal attributes and behaviors which enhance the management of the unit thus the care of the resident. 
  • Fulfills responsibility to the organization by adhering to its philosophy and general policies. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required. 
  • CPR certification required. 
  • Recent (within last six (6) months) experience in CNA role in Acute Care or Long Term Care Setting is preferred. 
  • Ability to read, write, perform simple calculations, and follow written and verbal instructions. 
  • Able to communicate clearly with, and care for a variety of people 
  • Flexible in scheduling and assignments. 
  • Evidence of personal health and hygiene. 
  • Ability to operate telephone, intercom system, calculator, and beeper. 

Ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition. 

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION 

Works primarily in skilled nursing facility setting. Requires considerable standing, mental effort, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of fifty (50) lbs.), pushing objects (carts, beds, and wheelchairs). Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases. May rarely require accompanying and assisting with patient transport to another facility. Uses medical, office equipment, and telecommunicates devices on a regular basis (e.g., I.V. pumps, fax, computer, and pagers). Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).

Maintains the Environment of Care, providing Homemaker Services in order to maintain the patient’s comfort and to provide a healthy, safe environment. The Hospice Nursing Assistant will have primary assignment to Home Care or Inpatient Care, but is expected to help in areas of need within any division/department of HOSG as directed by the Nurse Manager/RN. Assists with medication and supply pick up and delivery as needed. As agency need requires, may assist with clerical duties such as answering phones and/or call lights. Other responsibilities include maintaining inventory and organization of basic medical supplies and DME. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Preferred high school graduate or GED equivalent Required current State of Georgia certification. Minimum two (2) years varied work experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred Prefer training or experience with general office skills and medical terminology Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to the hospice philosophy and ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team in meeting the unique needs of the terminally ill.
