Texas Oncology is looking for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Infusion Department at our Mansfield, Tx location. This is a full-time Monday - Friday (hours 8:30am-5pm) position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

What does the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do?

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management
Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
Minimum 0-3 years of RN experience.
Willing to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate.
Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Registered Nurse - Oncology Infusion Therapy

Location: Moody Outpatient Center 3rd Floor Work Schedule - Monday - Friday Shift - 8 am to 5 pm (Days) Full Time PRIMARY PURPOSE The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience If less than 9 months experience, a Nurse residency is required. Maintains and updates knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, appropriate utilization of supplies and materials. Performs basic patient assessments related to cancer care and other medical diagnosis to include allergies and hypersensitivity reactions, physical, signs and symptoms, changes in activities of daily living, psychosocial, support network and financial dimensions across the continuum of care (diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, and end of life). Completes appropriate documentation by maintaining accurate and timely entries and notations in patient care records and hospital documents. Ensures that all records and documents meet the standards, goals, and objectives of Oncology Services and the institution. Performs appropriate patient assessments meeting admission and discharge criteria, provide safe medication administration using the patients six (6) rights, adequately perform POC monitoring and demonstrate safe infection control practices. Assesses patient performance status for changes to included pain management, collaborating with providers for appropriate interventions (medical providers, nutritionist, rehabilitation, ACS, pharmacy, social work, chaplain, palliative medicine, speech pathologist, etc.). Collaborates with wound care, stoma and ENT nurses for performing wound, colostomy and tracheotomy care as directed. Effectively manages triage for patient/family/other internal and external health care professionals to navigate the health care system with nursing supervision. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experienced staff and team members as needed. May work with other staff in providing direction to non-nursing staff.
