Position Details:

  • Location: 36 Shops at 5 Way, Plymouth, MA
  • Department: Internal Medicine/Family Medicine
  • Schedule: Full time, 40 hours/weekly, Monday through Friday, hours between 7:30am-6pm

 

Under general supervision as a Team Lead, coordinates the daily support operations of a single clinical area or group. Primarily acts as a Medical Assistant and performs the full duties associated with this role. Is a resource for other support staff and may fill in for staff as needed to provide appropriate coverage of the department. Takes lead role in ensuring department workflow is of a high quality.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits high level of technical skill and functions as resource for other clinical support members
  • Performs mainly as a Medical Assistant with additional leadership responsibilities. This may include assisting clinicians with routine clinical procedures and tests in the exam room, advises patients of preparation and testing required for exams, performing vital signs
  • Evaluates daily schedules and helps ensures appropriate coverage in the event of an unplanned absence. May need to have knowledge of and provide support for other departments when filling in as needed
  • Implements operational procedures in accordance with established guidelines. May make minor modifications to standard procedures
  • Directs support to staff to assure departmental effectiveness and efficiency. Guides staff understanding of current workflow and ensures workflow are implemented correctly. Suggests changes in standard work when there is an observed need
  • Provides input into performance reviews
  • May act as point of contact for patient inquiries, problems and complaints. Refers complex issues to appropriate resources
  • Oversees routine data and information flow for the unit and notifies supervisor of any deviations
  • May assist in orientation of new providers, including telephone use, appointments and medical records system
  • May collect data for use in the management decision-making process. Completes standard reports required for the management of the unit
  • Monitors assigned areas and exam rooms. Informs supervisor if these do not conform to state and local health standards
  • May coordinate with supervisor to purchase supplies and equipment and maintain adequate inventory. May work with Building Services and Purchasing to secure supplies and equipment necessary to operations
  • May act as supervisor in absence of actual supervisor
  • Orients and trains staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit 
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting facility 
  • In depth knowledge of internal medicine
  • Ability to use all electronic tools and applications relevant to the performance of the duties of the position, including but not limited to phone, keyboard, computer and computer applications

     

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Demonstrated sound judgment with the ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Job Summary Summary: The primary purpose of your job is to assist with the delivery of patient care in accordance with current applicable Federal, State and Local standards, guidelines, regulations and established procedures as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure the highest degree of quality care and safety be maintained. Place orders as needed depending on department workflow and SOP. f) Review and update medication list, allergies, histories, smoking status, and social determinants of health as applicable to department. g) Demonstrate proficiency in EHR, consistently and accurately documenting information in correct fields. h) Prioritize delegated tasks based on patient care needs and office activities. Effectively communicate with patients/family members in a manner that is consistent with MVH service expectations whether verbally or written in any form. a) Inform patients of test results and/or relay recommendations based on the specific direction/instruction of the physician, provider, RN or LPN. b) Thoroughly document all patient telephone conversations in real time and accurately relay patient questions/ request to the provider. c) Participate in team-based care and patient education initiatives to support the health and wellness of patients. Prepare and assist with office procedures as applicable to department. a) Per department SOP, assist providers with office-based procedures and prepare supplies and patient for the care they will be receiving. Label and package specimens resulting from office-based procedures and store in the appropriate manner until transported to lab. b) Clean and sterilize exam room and instruments using proper precaution per office protocol. Provide individualized, age-specific care to patients under the specific orders of physician or provider. a) If applicable to department, properly administer and document immunizations ordered by providers. Ensure that all appropriate documents, vaccine information sheets, etc. are provided to patients/guardians. b) If applicable to department, ensure the integrity of vaccines as per regulatory guidelines and applicable policies and procedures prior to administering. Comply with all applicable inventory and reporting requirements. Review all expiration dates prior to administration. c) If applicable to department, demonstrate understanding of appropriate immunization schedules for patient population. d) Perform other related clinical duties under the specific order of a provider, including but not limited to EKG's, vision exams, hearing exams, pulse oximetry, ear lavage, based on specific department protocols. e) Maintain all safety and compliance logs as indicated and required by office protocol and regulatory requirements. f) Recognize limitations and seek advice and direction from the physician, provider, supervisor, or other appropriate clinical staff member when needed.
