The Medical Assistant/CMA or CNA assists providers in care, medical record documentation, and treatment so patients can receive quality care. Obtain and process doctors orders. Provide good customer service on the phone, or with patients, doctors and other medical staff.

Education/Certification: Graduation from an accredited High school program or higher. Certificate of training for Nurse’s Aide. Current BLS. Valid driver’s license.

Experience: CMA course preferred, not required. Preferable, but not mandatory, 6 months of PACU/Medical Surgical.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physician with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Proficiency in collecting correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples. Follows hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to laboratory. Knowledge of handling laboratory supplies and stocks supplies. Ensure that patients receive appropriate competent and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient’s expectation. Adherence by staff to all policy and procedures. Provides age appropriate care. Reporting monitoring and management of patient and staff incidents. Monitoring and management of patient and physician satisfaction results.
