Schedules: 7am-330pm, 3pm-1130pm shifts available (rotating weekends)

Pay: $45/hour- $48/hour- RN

(2nd shift weekend shift diff available)

JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is responsible for meeting clients' basic medical needs under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director. Contributes toward the planning, delivery and evaluation of client care and treatment plan.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets with new clients and assists in completing the medical and health assessment/questionnaire.
  • Coordinates with attending physicians to ensure all admission orders are addressed and appropriate ancillary assessments and services are provided.
  • Completes client treatment plan documentation including nursing assessments, transcription of MD and NP phone orders, medication administration, client progress, inclusion of physical health services and other related issues.
  • Directs patient care and reports observed changes in mental status and/or physical condition, response to emergencies and safety risks.
  • Provides ongoing patient education on all aspects of detox, recovery, medications and other health issues.
  • Reconciles QA client medication sheets to ensure clients are receiving appropriate meds and oversees proper medication destruction.
  • Reconciles pharmacy orders daily.
  • Assists with development and implementation of quality assurance program and trains staff for infection control, nursing, pharmaceutical, ancillary and laboratory services.
  • Attends treatment planning conferences and professional staff meetings.
  • Available for 24 hour coverage for consultation and emergencies.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • Valid Registered Nurse license issued by state of employment.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited RN program, Associates in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer care skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • At least 2 years' experience in substance abuse/recovery program preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required for this position. If not CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire, certification must be obtained within the state mandated time frame after first day of employment.

Collaboratively plans and prepares patient/family for discharge incorporating support systems/resources as necessary. Appropriately delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by others. Appropriately prioritizes patient care (e.g. seeks assistance as needed from appropriate resources, reassigns personnel as necessary, recognizes need for emergency intervention, etc.). Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses according to established standards. Provides timely and thorough report on assigned patients to other health care team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of patient care. Promotes learning for colleagues and self (e.g. functions as preceptor, instructor, trainer, attends professional development programs, etc.). Proactively identifies risk to patient safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents). Identifies ethical issues in care and develops plan to address. Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician’s orders, protocols, policies and procedures. Assesses patient pain level upon admission and as necessary, depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain scale. Reassesses effectiveness of pain control and notifies physicians as needed, as well as, documents assessment and patients’ response to medication. Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD. Collaborates with surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator and surgical technicians to assure the patients’ well being during surgical intervention. Maintains sterile fields and directs the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments. Identifies patients correctly by checking patient identification bands and consent forms as well as verifying operative procedure and site before taking patients to the operating room. Applies principles of aseptic practice, oversees the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment and instrumentation to all surgical cases. Applies principles of body mechanics and adapts them to various situations during positioning and transfer of patients. Assures that all techniques and practices carried out during the surgical procedure are accurate and reflect standards of perioperative practice. Maintains sponge, needle and instrument counts according to policies and procedures, including notifying the surgeon of the result of the counts. Identifies, labels, cares for and handles all specimens and cultures according to established policy and procedure. Qualifications Qualifications : Current MA RN License required. ACLS upon hire OR must hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire. Recent OR experience required. CNOR preferred. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills required. Must take call per unit rotation.
