Job Summary

The Clinic Nurse provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in a physician clinic setting while supporting providers, patients, and the clinical team. Responsibilities may include patient triage, rooming, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, medication administration, injections and immunizations, wound care, assisting with procedures and diagnostic testing, patient education, referrals, medication management, and follow-up.

The level of nursing responsibility will correspond with the employee's RN or LPN licensure, training, competency, and applicable Arkansas scope of practice.

RNs may also coordinate nursing care, perform clinical triage, support care planning, assist with population health initiatives, and provide clinical guidance and skills validation for other staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for provider visits, examinations, and procedures.
• Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, medications, and other pertinent clinical information.
• Perform clinical triage and appropriately communicate patient needs to providers and other members of the care team within scope of practice.
• Administer medications, injections, and immunizations according to provider orders, organizational policies, and scope of practice.
• Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and other clinical interventions.
• Perform and/or assist with electrocardiograms (EKGs) and other diagnostic testing according to policy and competency.
• Assist with spirometry and pulmonary function testing (PFT) when trained and authorized.
• Provide wound care and perform staple or suture removal according to provider orders and demonstrated competency.
• Coordinate patient referrals, pharmacy communications, medication refills, and prior authorizations.
• Communicate test results, follow-up instructions, and other clinical information to patients as directed.
• Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, procedures, and follow-up care.
• Conduct post-visit and follow-up calls to support continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Monitor and maintain clean, organized, adequately stocked examination and treatment rooms.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, medication administration, and clinical documentation standards.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Support efficient patient flow and timely delivery of care.
• Participate in clinic quality improvement initiatives and population health activities as applicable.
• RNs may provide clinical leadership, assist with staff skills validation, coordinate nursing workflows, and support care planning within the clinic.
• Maintain professional, compassionate, and respectful relationships with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.

Job Qualifications

Required – Registered Nurse (RN)

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Current, unrestricted Arkansas Registered Nurse (RN) license or multi-state RN Licensure
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and healthcare team members.
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care.

Required – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

• Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing (PN/LPN) program.
• Current, unrestricted Arkansas Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or multi-state PN
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and healthcare team members.
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care.

Preferred

• Previous physician clinic or ambulatory care experience.
• Experience with patient triage and clinical assessment.
• Experience with electronic health records.
• Experience performing EKGs or pulmonary function testing/spirometry.
• Experience with medication refills, pharmacy communication, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Experience with wound care and staple/suture removal.
• Familiarity with population health or care coordination.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Compensation & Schedule

• Status: Full-Time
• Schedule: Weekday clinic hours; occasional schedule variation based on clinic needs.
• Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on licensure, qualifications, and experience. Compensation details are available during the interview process.
